AR-15 Muzzle
Brakes & Comps
Tame recoil, flatten muzzle rise, or push the blast downrange. NSPEC Innovations builds
AR-15 muzzle brakes, compensators, linear comps, breachers and flash cans in
1/2x28 and 5/8x24 threads for 5.56, .223 and .22LR. Machined in stainless and finished in a range
of Cerakote colors, at a price that fits any build.
Pick By Purpose
Which Device Does What
Muzzle devices look alike but solve different problems. Start with what bothers you most about how
your rifle shoots, then pick the device built to fix it.
Fights Recoil
Muzzle Brake
Vents gas to the sides to cut felt recoil, the best choice when you want the
rifle to sit still and shoot flat. The trade-off is more noise and concussion to the sides.
Best for recoil reduction
Fights Muzzle Rise
Compensator
Vents gas upward to fight muzzle climb, keeping your sights on target for
faster follow-up shots. A favorite for competition and rapid fire on light-recoiling calibers.
Best for fast follow-ups
Redirects Blast
Linear Comp & Flash Can
Pushes noise, blast and concussion forward, away from the shooter. Little
recoil reduction, but it makes short-barrel ARs and pistols far more pleasant to shoot next to.
Best for SBRs and pistols
Rugged Profile
Breacher
A compensator with a toothed front face that adds a rugged standoff surface
and an aggressive look. Available in stainless and multiple Cerakote finishes.
Best for a tough profile
Looking to hide flash instead? A flash hider disrupts gas to cut muzzle flash and protect night
vision. Browse the full

Get The Fit Right
Match Your Thread Pitch
A muzzle device threads onto your barrel, so the thread pitch has to match. Nearly every AR-15
uses one of two standards. Check your barrel markings before you order.
1/2x28
Most Common
Standard .22-caliber thread
The default for AR-15s chambered in 5.56, .223 and .22LR. Most of our
catalog is 1/2x28, in brakes, compensators, linear comps, flash cans and breachers.
5/8x24
.30 Caliber
Standard .30-caliber thread
The standard for 300 Blackout and other .30-caliber AR barrels. We carry
5/8x24 breacher compensators in stainless and Cerakote.

Muzzle Device Notes
Recoil vs. Concussion
More recoil reduction means more concussion. A hard-venting brake shoots
flat but is loud to the sides. If bystander comfort matters, step down to a
linear comp that pushes blast forward.
Barrel Length
Short barrels leave more unburnt powder, so an AR pistol or SBR produces a bigger flash and a
sharper blast. A linear comp or flash can is the go-to upgrade for short
builds and indoor ranges.
Timing & Install
Directional devices must be timed with a crush washer or shim kit so the
ports line up. Symmetrical devices are simpler. All thread on and torque to spec with basic
tools.
Finish
Match your build. Our devices come in stainless, black, FDE, ODG and white
Cerakote, so you can blend the muzzle into the rifle or make it a contrast accent.
