Standard .22-caliber thread

Muzzle Device Notes

Recoil vs. Concussion

More recoil reduction means more concussion. A hard-venting brake shoots flat but is loud to the sides. If bystander comfort matters, step down to a linear comp that pushes blast forward.

Barrel Length

Short barrels leave more unburnt powder, so an AR pistol or SBR produces a bigger flash and a sharper blast. A linear comp or flash can is the go-to upgrade for short builds and indoor ranges.

Timing & Install

Directional devices must be timed with a crush washer or shim kit so the ports line up. Symmetrical devices are simpler. All thread on and torque to spec with basic tools.

The toothed end is useful for standoff work and gives the muzzle a distinctive, aggressive profile. NSPEC carries breacher compensators in stainless and multiple Cerakote finishes.

  • Do muzzle brakes need to be timed?

    It depends on the device. A ported brake or compensator that vents in a specific direction must be timed so the ports line up correctly, using a crush washer or a shim kit. A symmetrical device without directional ports does not strictly require timing. Muzzle devices thread on and torque to spec, and a handful of basic tools finish the job.
