Choosing an AR-10 BCG

Bolt Face

.308, 6.5 Creedmoor, .243 and .22-250 share one bolt. 8.6 Blackout is listed on the side-charging BCG. .277 Fury has its own listing notes.

Standard or Side Charging

Side-charging carriers only work in side-charging uppers. Standard carriers only work in rear-charging uppers. Match the BCG to the upper.

Forced Reset Timing

A .308 carrier has plenty of travel for a Super Safety or FRT. Pair it with a buffer and spring matched to the carrier so the reset engages without bolt bounce.

Headspace

Any new bolt and barrel pairing should be checked with go and no-go gauges before firing.
