NSPEC Innovations AK FRT Gen 2 — AK-47 Forced Reset Trigger Kit

The NSPEC Innovations AK FRT Gen 2 is a complete AK-47 forced reset trigger kit built from CNC-machined, air-hardened, high-carbon, high-chromium steel. It delivers an ultra-fast mechanically assisted trigger reset on every shot without the cycling and reliability issues reported with AK Super Safety trigger kits. This is one of the highest-quality AK FRT kits currently available, privately manufactured in Texas specifically for NSPEC Innovations.

The Gen 2 design is an upgrade over the trigger systems used in earlier AK forced reset triggers including the Plinkify (Trigger Empire), Kono, and MaRs designs. The result is a more consistent reset, better durability under sustained fire, and improved compatibility across AK variants.

Features and Specifications

  • CNC-machined for precise tolerances and consistent fit
  • Air-hardened, high-carbon, high-chromium steel construction for maximum durability
  • Ultra-fast assisted reset for rapid, controlled fire on every trigger pull

  • Discounted 5.45x39 Magazine — same specifications as above in 5.45x39 for AK-74 pattern rifles

AK-47 Compatibility

The NSPEC AK FRT Gen 2 is engineered to work with nearly every standard AKM-pattern AK-47 variant. It is compatible with full-stroke and short-stroke BCG configurations and does not work with pistol-caliber AKs.

Tested and confirmed compatible with:

  • PSA GF Series AKs
  • Century Arms VSKA
  • WASR-10
  • Arsenal AKs
  • Zastava AKs
  • RPKs
  • KUSA KR-104 (confirmed by customer review)
  • WBP Jack 7.62x39 (confirmed by customer review)

Draco Pistol Compatibility (Micro Draco, Mini Draco, Full Size Draco)

The AK FRT Gen 2 is compatible with the Micro Draco, Mini Draco, and full-size Draco pistols. Installation requires a minor reduction of the rear trunnion using a Dremel or similar rotary tool. This modification takes only a few minutes and does not damage the pistol. Watch the Draco installation video for a full walkthrough before starting the installation.

Installation

Installation does not require major gunsmithing on most standard AKM receivers. Minor fitting adjustments may be needed on some variants due to manufacturing tolerance differences across AK producers. A complete installation guide is available from NSPEC's install partner at plinkify.com/install. Draco owners should review the Draco-specific installation video before proceeding.

NSPEC AK Magazines

As part of this listing, NSPEC offers discounted 30-round AK magazines for AK FRT customers. These windowed magazines are manufactured in Texas for NSPEC Innovations from impact-resistant polymer with steel-reinforced feed lips and locking lugs. They are available in both 7.62x39 for standard AKM/AK-47 pattern rifles and 5.45x39 for AK-74 pattern rifles. Add them to your order directly from the variant selector above.

State Restrictions and Legal Notice

Forced reset trigger legality varies by state. Before purchasing, verify that an AK forced reset trigger is legal to buy, possess, and install in your state. NSPEC Innovations does not ship to states where this product is prohibited. Review NSPEC's shipping and returns policy and consult your state's current statutes before ordering. AK FRT

This is the second AK FRT kit I’ve purchased from NSPEC and they were both easy installs and ran flawlessly with only a few minor tweaks needed which was expected given the differences across platforms. The first one was installed in a KUSA KR-104 using an ALG trigger and suppressor. Quick and easy install and would likely be in any spec 100 series rifle. I installed the second FRT in a 7.62 WBP Jack using an LBE trigger and didn’t notice any major differences in regard to installation. They have both operated consistently and would definitely recommend.

    Amazing, Spine shivering, adrenaline inducing

I’m using the Century Arms MICRO DRACO (Romania) I bought and installed this kit with low expectations according to videos and comments made on related trigger kits. I 100% followed all the steps of the videos linked related to the installation. At FIRST, to my disappointment, the bolt was hard to rack at times when the hammer was up and would get locked at times when racking. When loading and ejecting rounds (manually) it would get caught or bolt would lock back. When it came to firing the gun, all doubt was removed and i was blown away. I fired a total of 12 rounds in less than 2 seconds before i took my finger off the trigger. I thought it would jam, fortunately it didn’t.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is an AK FRT (forced reset trigger)?

An AK forced reset trigger is a fire-control group upgrade that uses the AK's cycling action to mechanically push the trigger forward to its reset position after each shot, allowing the shooter to pull the trigger again more quickly than a standard AK trigger group permits. The shooter still completes a separate trigger pull for every round fired. The result is a significantly faster practical rate of fire while maintaining semi-automatic function, with one discharge tied to each completed trigger pull.

  • Does the AK FRT kit include a trigger?

Yes, some purchase options include a surplus Romanian trigger, but the trigger is not required for the AK FRT system to function. Any standard AK trigger that fits your receiver can be used with the kit. The Romanian trigger shown in the product photos is a surplus part sold as a convenience option. If you already have a quality AK trigger in your rifle, the base AK FRT Gen 2 kit will work with it.

  • What AK variants is the NSPEC AK FRT compatible with?

The AK FRT Gen 2 is compatible with most standard AKM-pattern AK-47 rifles using a full-stroke or short-stroke bolt carrier group. Confirmed compatible platforms include the PSA GF Series, Century Arms VSKA, WASR-10, Arsenal AKs, Zastava, RPKs, KUSA KR-104, and WBP Jack. It does not work with pistol-caliber AK variants. For Draco pistols (Micro, Mini, and full-size), a minor rear trunnion modification is required before installation.

  • Does the Draco installation require permanent modification?

The Draco installation requires a small reduction of the rear trunnion using a Dremel or similar rotary tool. This modification is minor and takes only a few minutes. It does not damage the function of the Draco pistol or affect the receiver itself. A step-by-step video walkthrough is linked in the product description above and covers the full process. The same modification applies to the Micro Draco, Mini Draco, and full-size Draco.

  • Is the AK FRT Gen 2 better than the AK Super Safety?

Yes. The AK Super Safety trigger approach is a different mechanism that has been widely reported to have reliability issues including failure to reset and inconsistent cycling. The NSPEC AK FRT Gen 2 addresses the problems common to Super Safety designs by using a purpose-built forced reset kit rather than adapting the AK's safety selector. The Gen 2 design is also an upgrade over earlier AK FRT kits from Plinkify (Trigger Empire), Kono, and MaRs, improving consistency of reset and durability under sustained fire.

  • What is included in the AK FRT kit at base price?

The base AK FRT Gen 2 kit includes the forced reset trigger mechanism components and one AK recoil buffer at no additional charge. The Romanian trigger, FCG parts, gas piston, and discounted magazines are sold separately as optional add-on variants in the product selector. You do not need the Romanian trigger to use the kit — any standard AK trigger works.

  • Do I need a gunsmith to install the AK FRT?

Most installations on standard AKM-pattern receivers can be completed without a gunsmith. Installation does require familiarity with AK fire-control group replacement and some basic tools. Minor fitting adjustments may be needed depending on your specific AK manufacturer's tolerances, since not all AK producers adhere to identical specifications. A complete installation guide is available at plinkify.com/install, and Draco owners should watch the linked installation video before starting. If you are not comfortable performing fire-control group work, a gunsmith familiar with AK platforms can complete the installation quickly.

  • What is the recoil buffer included with the kit for?

The AK recoil buffer is a drop-in polymer or rubber buffer that fits inside the receiver behind the bolt carrier and absorbs some of the rearward impact at the end of the bolt carrier's travel. On an AK running an FRT at an accelerated rate of fire, the buffer helps manage the increased recoil impulse and reduces wear on the receiver's rear trunnion over time. One buffer is included free with every AK FRT kit purchase. Additional discounted buffers are available as a separate variant option in the product selector for customers who want a spare.

  • Is the AK FRT legal in my state?

AK forced reset trigger legality depends on your state's specific statutes and definitions. Several states restrict or ban rate-of-fire accessories under machine gun, multiburst trigger activator, or rapid-fire trigger definitions broad enough to cover FRTs regardless of the specific product name. NSPEC does not ship to states where this product is prohibited. Before purchasing, verify your state's current laws on forced reset triggers. The NSPEC FRT buyer's guide provides a step-by-step workflow for researching your state's statutes and confirming legality before ordering.

  • Are bulk pricing discounts available on the AK FRT?

Yes. Bulk pricing is available at three tiers: 10% off when purchasing 10 to 19 units, 25% off for 20 to 49 units, and 30% off for orders of 50 or more. Discounts apply per individual item.
