• Are forced reset triggers legal?

  Under federal law, yes. Following the Fifth Circuit decision in Rare Breed Triggers LLC v. ATF and the May 2025 Department of Justice settlement, forced reset triggers are not classified as machine guns under the National Firearms Act, so no registration or tax stamp is required. State law is independent of federal classification: roughly 14 states plus the District of Columbia prohibit these devices under their own statutes, and litigation challenging the federal settlement is ongoing. Confirm current law in your state before ordering.

• Is a forced reset trigger a machine gun?

  Not under current federal law. Federal courts have held that a forced reset trigger fires one round per function of the trigger, which is the statutory test for a machine gun. Several states define prohibited devices more broadly, using language about rate of fire or simulating automatic fire, and forced reset triggers are banned under those state definitions regardless of the federal position.

• Do I need a full-auto bolt carrier group for the Disruptor?

  Yes. A full-auto profile bolt carrier group is required for the Disruptor to function correctly in an AR-15. A semi-auto profile carrier does not have the geometry to drive the reset and will not work. If your rifle is currently running a semi-auto carrier, plan on replacing it as part of the install.

• What buffer weight does the Disruptor need?

  For a carbine receiver extension with a 16-inch or shorter barrel, an H2 buffer is the minimum and an H3 is recommended. For a 20-inch rifle with an A2 stock, use a standard rifle buffer. Buffer weight directly affects cycling speed and reset timing, which is why it is the first thing to check on any function issue.

• Does the Disruptor require modifying my lower receiver?

  No. The Disruptor is a self-contained cassette that installs in a standard mil-spec AR-15 lower with no cutting, fitting, or permanent modification. Anti-walk pins are included, and most builders complete the install in under fifteen minutes with common AR tools.

• What is the trigger pull weight?

  3.75 to 4.1 pounds, consistent across both semi-automatic and forced reset modes. The cassette design sets the engagement geometry at the factory, so the break stays repeatable shot to shot rather than drifting as the parts wear in.

• How durable is the Disruptor?

  The Disruptor has been tested beyond 6,000 rounds under a course of fire derived from USMC M27 IAR evaluation criteria. Wear surfaces are tool steel and 4140 chromoly, so the components carrying load under repeated cycling are the hardened ones.

• Will the Disruptor fit my AR-15?

  The Disruptor is designed for most AR-15 and AR-pattern lower receivers using standard mil-spec components. Non-standard or proprietary lowers with altered trigger pocket dimensions may not accept a cassette-style trigger. If you are running anything other than a mil-spec lower, confirm compatibility before ordering, since all sales are final.

• Can this ship to my state?
